Taylor Scruggs-Smith
Originally from the DC Metro area, Taylor relocated to North Carolina in 2011 for school though she still has great pride for her hometown in Prince George’s County in Maryland. Taylor received her both her Juris Doctorate and Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Campbell University in 2018 and 2015 respectively and has been practicing law since 2019.
Taylor’s practice is focused in family law and she has built a reputation for her commitment to her clients, her strong advocacy skills, and her ability to guide families through challenging legal matters with empathy and clarity. She has extensive experience managing complex family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support and equitable distribution. She is known for her skill in negotiating settlements and her passion for helping clients find amicable resolutions outside of the courtroom. Her work during the COVID-19 pandemic underscored her ability to adapt and innovate, steering many clients toward settlement and successfully participating in numerous mediations and negotiations. Taylor is also a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission Certified Family Financial Mediator
In addition to her legal practice, Taylor leverages her role to enhance the firm’s marketing and outreach efforts, demonstrating her multifaceted expertise and commitment to the firm’s growth. She has been recognized for her legal acumen and leadership, including accolades such as being named a Super Lawyers North Carolina Rising Star (2024), Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America (2024 & 2025), and receiving the Triangle Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Leadership Award (2024).
Taylor brings a diverse perspective to her practice, enriched by her experiences and roots. She is a proud mother to a son and the owner of two German Shepherds, who keep her active and on her toes. A true lover of all things Maryland, Taylor has a special place in her heart for Old Bay seasoning and crab legs. She is also an enthusiastic Disney fan, finding joy in the magic and storytelling that Disney brings to life. Outside of her professional and family life, Taylor enjoys creative writing, reading science fiction, and horseback riding.
