Featured Testimonials

Patrick was calm and rational. He wasn’t trying to be a psychologist, he wasn’t trying to think like a judge, and he wasn’t trying to become my friend. If you talk with an attorney who does any of those, run.
Patrick advocated for me, and made sure my ex’s long-winded ramblings were efficiently cut to pieces with targeted questions for me and the other witnesses. Whatever his methodology is, it was easy to answer succinctly. In the end, we did better than even he expected.
Incidentally, my case has very high CPS involvement because of my ex. Patrick understood the complexities in a way an average family law attorney does not. I received a referral to this firm, but for a different partner. As it turned out, I was represented by exactly the right person.

Melissa DA, Child Custody Client

Patrick and his team were amazing. Patrick is very professional, kind, consistent and most importantly (honest) about the potential outcome of your case. I never would have thought in a million years I would have received the results that did in court. My entire family is extremely happy. The outcome of my case was completely due to Patrick’s knowledge of the law. We are forever grateful for his representation!!

Serenity J., Family Law Client

J. Patrick Williams didn’t take the traditional path to family law — and that’s exactly what makes him so effective.

Before law school, Patrick earned a degree in Computer Engineering from NC State and spent years working as a systems administrator and programmer. That background gives him something most attorneys don’t have: a genuine comfort with numbers, financial complexity, and the kind of systematic thinking that equitable distribution, spousal support/alimony and child support cases demand. When clients walk in with a complicated financial picture, Patrick doesn’t just see legal issues — he sees a problem he knows how to solve.

Patrick is a founding partner at Batch, Poore & Williams, PC, where his practice centers on family law, divorce, domestic violence, criminal and traffic matters, and civil litigation. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers and Marquis Who’s Who. He is also a NCDRC Certified Family Financial Mediator and a Certified Parenting Coordinator — credentials that reflect his commitment to resolution, not just litigation.

He earned his Juris Doctor from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 2005, where he competed on the American Trial Lawyers Association trial team, served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Campbell Law Review, and contributed to the revision of leading North Carolina legal treatises. He graduated into the Order of the Barristers and was recognized in Who’s Who Among American Law Students.

Since then, Patrick has built a litigation record that spans personal injury, divorce, custody, equitable distribution, real estate disputes, alienation of affection actions, and appellate work — representing both individuals and insurance companies along the way.

But ask anyone who knows Patrick why he gravitates toward domestic violence and family financial cases, and the answer is simple: he was raised to fight for the people who need it most.

Outside the office, Patrick is married to Sydney Batch and is a proud dad of two boys. He’s also a self-described mixologist and grill master — and per Sydney, the official CEO of math homework in the Williams household.
